Monitoring system routine maintenance checklist
An executable inspection list is provided by day, week, month, and quarter to eliminate faults before they occur and extend the life of the system.
Daily
- Spot check the real-time images of key channels to confirm that the images are normal and unobstructed.
- View system alarms (offline, hard disk abnormalities, capacity alarms).
- Confirm that the video is being written normally.
Weekly
- Playback spot check: Randomly check at least 1 channel in each partition to confirm that the video is complete and the time is accurate.
- Check the remaining storage capacity and the estimated number of days it can be stored.
- Check the online rate of equipment and process offline points.
- View the hard drive SMART status.
Monthly
- Clean the camera lens and protective cover (especially outdoors, in the kitchen, and in dusty environments).
- Check the fastening and corrosion of brackets, poles, and equipment boxes.
- Check whether the outdoor joint waterproofing is intact.
- Check the system time (the deviation from the NTP server should be < 1 second).
- Export and archive important event recordings.
- Check UPS battery status.
Quarterly
- Check the lightning arrester and grounding resistance (must be done before thunderstorm season).
- Clean equipment boxes, fans, and dust screens to improve heat dissipation.
- Check switch port status and error count.
- Recheck account permissions and clean up the accounts of resigned personnel.
- Update device firmware (verify at non-critical points first).
- Check whether the point ledger is consistent with the actual situation.
Every year
- Comprehensive assessment of whether storage capacity will meet demand for the next year.
- Evaluate the life of the hard disk (monitoring disks are recommended for preventive replacement every 3 to 5 years).
- Check whether the vertical pole foundation has settled or tilted.
- Review the lightning protection grounding system.
- Practice a fault recovery process and verify that the backup is available.
- Update as-built drawings and location ledgers.
Recommended records
- Point ledger: number, location, model, IP, coverage, installation date.
- Device list: model, serial number, firmware version, warranty period.
- Network planning: IP allocation table, VLAN, port correspondence.
- Maintenance records: time, reasons, and results of each inspection and troubleshooting.
- Account list: users, permissions, activation and cancellation time.
