Edge computing enters the security front-end, and intelligent analysis moves from the center to the camera side
The reduced computing power allows the camera itself to have recognition capabilities, reduces the pressure on the central server and network occupancy, and also improves the real-time response capability of large-scale points.

What is edge intelligence

Refers to completing algorithm reasoning such as target detection and behavior recognition on cameras or nearby edge devices. Only structured results and alerts are uploaded to the center instead of transmitting the entire video stream.

Three changes brought about

  1. Bandwidth saving: Only event fragments and result data are uploaded.
  2. Faster response: Local judgment reduces alarm delay from seconds to milliseconds.
  3. More flexible expansion: The center no longer needs to linearly increase computing power on a point-by-point basis.

Selection and deployment

  • The algorithm needs to match the scene: different models such as safety helmets, boundary crossing, passenger flow, license plates, etc.;
  • Existing cameras can be accessed and analyzed through the Edge Smart Box to reduce modification costs;
  • Conduct on-site tuning for 1–2 weeks after going online to gradually reduce false alarms.
