AI cameras are accelerating their implementation in retail stores, moving from anti-theft tools to business assistants
The maturity of intelligent analysis algorithms and the reduction of hardware costs have transformed AI cameras from simple anti-theft devices in chain retail scenarios to tools for passenger flow statistics, hot zone analysis and remote store patrols.
From "visible" to "understandable"
Traditional retail surveillance is mainly used for post-event evidence collection. As the algorithm matures, cameras begin to assume business analysis functions: Automatically count the number of people entering the store, identify the area where customers stay, and analyze the passenger flow density in front of the shelves.
Four types of high-frequency applications
| Application | Data source | Business value |
|---|---|---|
| Passenger flow statistics | Two-way human body detection at entrance and exit | Store entry rate and conversion rate analysis |
| Hot zone analysis | Personnel density in shelf aisles | Display adjustment and circulation optimization |
| Cash register loss prevention | Cash register audio and video synchronization | Reduce internal losses and disputes |
| Remote store inspection | Multi-screen tour and playback | Reduce the frequency of on-site store inspections |
Deployment and Cost
- Prioritize the renovation of entrances, exits and cashiers, and then gradually cover shelf aisles;
- Adopt dual streams: local HD storage and upload SD to reduce bandwidth pressure;
- Supports local SD card resumption of recording when the network is disconnected, and re-transmits key clips after the network is restored.
