Remote store patrol and anti-theft system for a certain supermarket chain store
Using wireless network cameras and a unified cloud platform, we quickly deployed surveillance for 68 stores, enabling remote store inspections, customer flow statistics, and cash register loss prevention from the headquarters.

Project background
The supermarket chain has 68 stores in the Pearl River Delta, 40% of which are old stores that have been operating for more than 5 years. Businesses want to do this without large-scale Under the premise of wiring transformation, a video system can be established that allows the headquarters to conduct unified store inspections and stores to install independently.
Innovative deployment methods
This project adopts the "Direct mailing of equipment + self-assembly by store staff + remote acceptance" model:
- The headquarters provides a store floor plan template, and the store manager takes photos and marks suspicious blind spots and sends them back.
- The technical team remotely outputs site maps and installation instructions.
- The equipment arrives at the store by express delivery, and the clerk fixes the bracket as shown in the picture, plugs it in, and scans the QR code to bind it.
- The headquarters will accept the screen angle online and fine-tune it remotely if necessary.
This model shortens the single-store deployment cycle from the traditional 3–5 days to less than 1 day, and the overall project is completed within 3 weeks.
Operational value
- Store inspection efficiency:Regional managers can complete 80% of daily inspections remotely, and on-site inspections focus on key stores.
- Loss prevention effect: Within half a year of launch, the cash register discrepancy rate dropped by about 35%.
- Dispute handling:Customer complaints can be quickly verified through video recording, and the average processing time is shortened from 2 days to 2 hours.
- Display optimization: Adjusting the end-shelf display based on the data of passenger flow hot spots, the sales volume of key categories increased by about 12%.
Project difficulties
Issues that need to be addressed during project advancement
There are many stores and they are widely distributed, so centralized construction costs are high
Traditional wired deployment requires an engineering team to be sent to each store, which takes a long time and costs a lot.
Store network conditions vary
Some old stores have limited bandwidth and need to control uplink usage
It is difficult to obtain evidence for internal losses in the checkout process
Lack of special audio and video records for the checkout counter
There is no one on duty after the store is closed, which puts great pressure on anti-theft
Effective alarm and quick response mechanisms are needed at night
The headquarters lacks unified store inspection and assessment methods
relies on regional managers to conduct on-site store inspections, with low frequency of coverage
solution
Technical and construction measures taken to address the above difficulties
Deploy 4–8 wireless network cameras in each store
covering entrances and exits, cashiers, shelf aisles, warehouses and back doors
Store employees install it by themselves, with remote guidance from the headquarters
Plug and go without wiring, scan the QR code to bind and complete the registration
Dual stream + local SD card storage
local recording resumption during network outage, key clips will be re-transmitted after the network is restored
The cashier is equipped with a voice-pickup camera
the transaction screen and voice are synchronized to retain the certificate, effectively curbing internal losses
Unified store inspection platform at the headquarters
Supports multi-screen tours, remote playback and passenger flow report export
Project results
Actual operating data after the system goes online
Main equipment list
This project mainly uses equipment (XLD is mainly self-developed)
- Wireless IP Cameras — 480 units, 4–8 units per store
- Special cameras for voice pickup — 68 units, dedicated to cashiers
- 64GB surveillance-grade SD card — 480 pictures, local recording can be resumed when disconnected from the network
- Cloud platform account — Headquarters + region + store three-level authorization
- Mobile App — Regional manager’s store inspection and alarm reception
