Safe campus construction project of a vocational and technical school
Covering teaching buildings, dormitories, canteens, sports fields and school gate areas, we will build bright kitchens, bright stoves, one-click alarms and campus security management platforms to achieve data docking with the education authorities’ platforms.

Project background
The school is a full-time vocational and technical school with approximately 6,800 teachers and students, and the campus covers an area of approximately 80,000 square meters. The original monitoring system was built earlier. Equipment brands are mixed, image quality varies, and cannot meet the new requirements of the education authorities for "bright kitchens and stoves" and "one-button alarms". The school will launch an overall upgrade in the summer of 2022.
Implementation process
- Demand sorting (June): Communicated multiple times with the Security Office, General Affairs Office, and Canteen Management Department to identify 1,200 points.
- Network transformation (early July): Upgrade core and aggregation switches, and divide VLANs by building.
- Front-end installation (mid-July–mid-August): Six construction teams moved forward simultaneously to complete the installation of 1,200 pieces of equipment.
- Platform deployment and joint debugging (late August): Complete platform access, alarm linkage strategy and storage configuration.
- Acceptance and training (early September): Complete acceptance before the start of school and train 40 security and logistics personnel.
Features
- Bright kitchen and bright stove:Parents and regulatory authorities can view real-time images of the kitchen through authorized accounts.
- One-click alarm: After the button in the classroom is triggered, the large central screen will automatically pop up the classroom screen and start recording.
- Behavior analysis: Dormitory corridors support climbing/gathering detection at night, and abnormalities are automatically pushed to the teacher on duty.
- Leveled authorization: The principal can view the entire school, and the head teacher can only view the classroom and floor of this class.
Project results
The project was successfully accepted before the start of school in September 2022, becoming a demonstration project for security construction in the local education system. We have received 6 brother schools for visits and exchanges.
Project difficulties
Issues that need to be addressed during project advancement
The campus is large, has many buildings, and has a huge number of points
The layout and network planning of 1,200 points is highly complex.
The main construction must be completed during the summer vacation
The construction period is tight, and teaching is not allowed to be affected after school starts
Canteen kitchens need to be connected to the market supervision platform
Data format and reporting requirements are strict and must be configured according to specifications
Student privacy and parents’ right to know need to be balanced
Dormitory and corridor areas involve privacy and require refined permission design
The original monitoring brands are mixed and need to be integrated
The existing equipment comes from 3 manufacturers and needs unified access management
solution
Technical and construction measures taken to address the above difficulties
The entire school uses 2-megapixel network cameras
Ceiling-mounted cameras are installed at a distance of 15-20 meters in teaching buildings and dormitory corridors, with no dead-angle coverage
The canteen deploys 36 special cameras for bright kitchens and stoves
covering four areas of rough processing, cooking, meal preparation, and decontamination, and is connected to the market supervision platform
Install 180 one-touch alarm buttons in classrooms and corridors
Link the monitoring center and security mobile phone within 3 seconds after triggering
Face + license plate dual recognition at the school gate
teachers and students scan their faces to enter the school, outside vehicles are registered and released, and visitors leave traces throughout the process
Unified security management platform
Integrate existing equipment through ONVIF/GB28181 to achieve unified management on one platform
Project results
Actual operating data after the system goes online
Main equipment list
This project mainly uses equipment (XLD is mainly self-developed)
- 2 million network dome cameras — 760 units, teaching buildings and dormitory corridors
- 2 million network gun machines — 320 units, campus roads and periphery
- Special cameras for bright kitchens and stoves — 36 units, covering four areas of the canteen
- High-definition high-speed ball machines — 24 units, sports fields and squares
- One-touch alarm buttons — 180 pcs, classrooms and corridors
- Face recognition terminal — 12 units, school gate passage
- Video wall and digital matrix — 46 inches × 6 + 32-way matrix
